Organic apple and pear brandy - 2013 Vintage
This spirit has always been the star of Normandy but this one isn’t like any other. Calvados comes from the distillation of apples but Calvados Domfrontais needs at least 30% of pear. The distillation takes place in one of the most historical instruments of Normandy, the alembic on wheels. Going farm to farm, the distiller shares his knowledge and transforms this Nature into something more spiritual. The transparent distillate is then aged in an oak barrel. Thanks to the specific climate of Normandy, the calvados get its amazing notes of roasted apple, almonds, honey and tobacco. This brings together the complexity of an old whiskey mixed with the elaborate flavour of apple and pear.
The 2013 vintage has been aged in a sweet wine cask before it's been transferred to a calvados cask. This process rounds up the spirit and gives it a more desserty aspect compare to the 2010 vintage.
Serve it on rocks as a digestif or try it with tonic water. Pour it on a vanilla ice cream or have it with some chocolate for dessert. Bartenders love it for its complexity, bringing a new dimension to their cocktails.
